Hey everyone! We have some AMAZING news! The students here at WES are total rock stars when it comes to reading, and we are incredibly proud of all of you! You've been reading up a storm this school year, and look what we've accomplished together since August 1st:
Over 10,000 books have been checked out of our library! That's a lot of adventures! 📚
You've passed almost 9,000 AR tests! Way to show what you know! ✅
251 students are participating in AR right now!
246 students already crushed their AR goals for the first nine weeks! High fives all around! 👋
🚀 Reaching for the Million Word Summit! 🚀
We have a big goal to encourage everyone to work toward reading One Million Words by the time you reach 5th grade! Each grade level has its own special goal, and we are SO excited to cheer on three students who didn't just meet their goal—they climbed all the way to the Summit!
A giant congratulations to Cameron, Pinah, and Olivia! You went above and beyond, reached your grade level's highest reading goal, and are inspiring all of us! 🏆
Keep up the fantastic work, WES! Let's keep turning those pages and making this the best reading year ever! 🎉

Dear Families, we are excited to announce our school's "Reading Mountain Challenge"! This year, our school community is embarking on an epic adventure to conquer a towering goal: reading one million words. Each grade level will have a different goal with the overall goal of reaching one million words as a fifth grader. Just like climbing a great mountain requires dedication, perseverance, and putting one foot in front of the other, reaching this word count peak will take consistent effort from every single student. We invite you to be your child's climbing partner: help them select engaging books, set aside dedicated reading time at home, and celebrate each "base camp" milestone we reach along the way. Together we can reach the summit of our grade level goal and install a lifelong love for the journey of reading!
Grade Level goals:
1st Grade - 35,000 words
2nd Grade - 150,000 words
3rd Grade - 500,000 words
4th Grade - 800,000 words
5th Grade - 1,000,000 words
