School Closures in Response to Hurricane Helene
Due to the potential for high winds, heavy rainfall and flooding associated with Hurricane Helene over the next two days, and with guidance from the National Weather Service and Camden Emergency Management Agency, Camden County Schools will close all schools Thursday, September 26, 2024, and Friday, September 27, 2024, for all staff and students. The safety of our students, employees, and their families will always be our first priority.
In any emergency, it is critical for parents and students to rely on accurate, timely information directly from the school system or local and state officials. All official announcements regarding schools will be made on the Camden County Schools website, Facebook and Instagram pages, through the Camden County Schools app, on local radio stations – KBAY 106.3 and WECC 89.3, and on the Tribune and Georgian website. Please check one or more of these sources for updates regarding future decisions.
We wish everyone the best as you prepare for the storm and make plans to ensure the safety of your families. Thank you for your patience during this time.

🌟 Happy World School Milk Day! 🥛📚
Today, we celebrate the nutritional powerhouse that is milk and its incredible benefits for students around the globe! 🌍✨
Milk provides essential nutrients like calcium, vitamin D, and protein, which are crucial for growing minds and bodies. Supporting milk programs in schools ensures that every student gets the nourishment they need to thrive academically and physically.
Join us in raising a glass of milk to healthier, happier, and more successful students everywhere. Cheers to growth, learning, and the power of good nutrition!

In addition to monthly fire drills and yearly weather drills, we are required by state statute to conduct an intruder/lockdown drill by October 1. We will be conducting our mandated drill on Friday, September 27th.
At MLG, we refer to this drill as a “school safety” drill. A drill reminder will be announced over the intercom for everyone in the building. We will be using our safety software called Centegix, this will turn on indicator beacons throughout the school and send a message to staff computers to indicate a lockdown. Staff and students will be directed to secure themselves in a locked room, out of eyesight from doors and windows. The room lights are turned off and everyone remains quiet briefly until administration signals “all-clear”. Outside of these drills, this procedure would only be implemented when an imminent, clear and present danger poses a risk to students and staff.
While these drills are required for schools to complete, we understand that they can cause some stress and/or anxiety for some of our students. We do our best to make it a drill like any other and refer to it in a way that does not create additional concern. Parents do have the right to opt out of the intruder/lockdown drills by contacting their school, however, we strongly encourage everyone to participate to ensure they are prepared.
Thank you!

Reminder: We will have our parent meeting (formerly Title I Annual) on Monday, September 23rd at 9am in the front office. We hope to see you there!

Congratulations to our PBIS Student of the Week winners for 9/20!
Great work demonstrating our 3 school-wide expectations: Respectful, Responsible and Safe!
Keep up the great work!
