Camden County Schools Implements Transportation Rerouting
Camden County, GA – Camden County Schools is implementing updated transportation routes for the 2025–2026 school year in compliance with state regulations and local safety reviews. These changes aim to enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of student transportation across the district.
Why the Change?
The current transportation routes have not undergone a full rerouting in over a decade. As student populations shift and enrollment patterns evolve, transportation plans must be adjusted to maintain timely and efficient service. The updated routing plan will ensure students spend less time on buses, reduce disciplinary incidents in transit, and improve overall on-time arrival.
Camden County Schools has reviewed and adjusted routes to:
Remain in compliance with Georgia state laws and Camden County Schools policy
Improve efficiency and reduce excessive student ride times
Enhance equitable service across neighborhoods
Avoid high-risk roadways and intersections
Support a safe and reliable transportation system for all students
Walk Zone Compliance
All walk zones have been thoroughly reviewed and found to be in compliance with Georgia state law and Camden County Schools policy. While state law permits walk zones of up to 1.5 miles, Camden County Schools has maintained a more conservative 1-mile walk zone. Hazard assessments have been completed, and no safety concerns have been identified.
“We know changes to bus routes can impact families, and we are committed to clear communication and support as we implement this plan,” said Dr. Tracolya Green, Superintendent of Camden County Schools.
