Earlier this week, Mrs. Jones’ 3rd Grade ELA class read Why is the Statue of Liberty Green?
Her students learned that the Statue of Liberty is made of copper and was originally the color brown. However, the Statue of Liberty is now Green due to wind, rain, and other natural elements.
Today, her student turned brown, copper pennies to the color green to match Lady Liberty.

WES October Events 2024

Become a volunteer at Woodbine Elementary School! A new district policy requires all volunteers and field trip chaperones to participate in Volunteer Training AND complete a background check – the school has the specific form needed for the free background check.

"Paw"tober has begun at WES. Check out our kids and their pets reading! So proud of these guys for learning how to be lifelong readers.

Get ready for some October fun! Throughout the entire month, students can snap a pic of themselves reading to their pet or their favorite stuffed buddy. This will be a great way to showcase what our pets are reading! Plus, every student who submits a photo will snag a nifty little prize. Those adorable snapshots will be featured in the Media Center all month long!
