5th grade Challenge students from Mamie Lou Gross and Woodbine Elementary celebrated Percy Jackson Day. They have spent the semester learning about Greek Mythology and reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. They wrapped up their studies today by making Camp Halfblood T-shirts and beaded necklaces. Then everyone enjoyed a true Percy Jackson snack of blue Kool Aid and blue Moon Pies!

WES students have been practicing Golf during PE with Coach Hill, using the First Tee Program adopted by our county about 7 years ago. The students worked on how to set-up to the ball, how to hold the golf club & how to swing when putting, chipping, and taking a full swing. We've also been focusing on character words related to the game of golf: respect, responsibility, safety, courtesy, sportsmanship & perseverance. The students have been doing an awesome job as the player and the caddy & this week, they've been enjoying taking full swings on our "Crawfish Golf Course's" driving range with a "Top Golf" vibe. ⛳️
Parents: If you would like to give your child an opportunity to work with the First Tee Programs on actual golf courses (after school &/or summer camps), you can visit www.firstteegoldenisles.org or reach out to these local golf courses to inquire when/if they will be offering these camps: Trident Lakes, Osprey Cove, Sanctuary Cove & Jekyll Island.

Calling all 2025 Seniors who attended WES! Come join us in celebrating YOU as we line the halls to have you do one last walk through of Woodbine Elementary. We can't wait to see you on May 20th.

This past weekend, three of our fifth-grade students were chosen to participate in a 4-H competition. Each student selected a topic and focused on enhancing their writing, developing a presentation, and honing their public speaking abilities. We're thrilled to share that all three girls earned medals! Sadie Blevins secured 3rd place in crafts, Charlotte Horn achieved 1st place in general science, and Zuri Miller took home 3rd place in wildlife! Fantastic job, girls! WES is incredibly proud of you!
